Growing up in South Africa on his parents Banana Farm, Etienne Theart has farming in his blood. Upon completion of High School, Etienne joined the South African Airforce for 8.5 years, where he spent his time as an Airspace controller and completing 2 tours of duty.
Whilst in the Airforce he remained an active partner in the family business in South Africa
keeping his farming passions ignited. Seeking a sea change Etienne and his family immigrated to Australia and purchased a Mango and Avocado Orchard in QLD (2004-2013).
He spent 10 years working and nurturing his farms, in conjunction in Representative Directorships with Australian Mango Industry Association and Sunfresh Marketing, and a Chairmanship with Atherton Tablelands Avocado Growers Association (2011-2012) prior to taking post with APG.
APG’s culture of willing to implement new ideas, new systems in place in order to create solutions for better farming practices enriches Etienne’s everyday life as Farm Manager. This continuous improvement culture, with room to work autonomously has resulted in a better harvesting process, reduction in manual labour, a beautiful Orchard and a happy place to be.
With complete faith in the APG brand, the APG Founder Gal Shapir, Etienne looks forward to the expansion of the APG Pomegranate Farms where he hopes to overlook an additional 200 hectares feeding the supply chain in Fresh Produce and derivatives.
